Extra Special/Strong Bitter (English Pale Ale) – All Grain GONE

Statistics

General Info

Brewed with 100% home grown hops from this year's harvest, which took place about 36 hours before it was brewed.  The original harvest broke down like this

Cascade  6 3/8 oz (wet); 1 3/4 oz (dry) (27%)

Nugget 11 1/2 oz (wet); 3 1/8 oz (dry) (27%)

Chinook 16 3/8 oz (wet); 5 oz (dry) (30%)

Dried for 36 hours in our garage on window screens.  Lost about 70% of the weight to moisture.

Probably went overboard with the amount of hops for the style, but we'll see how it turns out after it ages a bit.  I'm hoping that the English Ale yeast won't dry it out as much as the American Ale yeast I used last year and the additional body will stand up to the excessive bitterness.
