American IPA – All Grain GONE

Statistics

General Info

Used a pump/chill plate for the first time to cool the beer before going to the fermenter.  Also broke in a new mash/lauter tun made out of a 75 qt cooler to handle larger grain bills like this brew.  The brew day was a little more chaotic than usual, but overall it went well.  Beer came in a few points lower than anticipated, but still within the American IPA category.

Special Procedures

Fermenting in a 13 gallon blue plastic extract container.

Dry Hop with the Cascade and Amarillo hops after transfer to secondary.  I'll have to split this into two 5 gallon carboys, so I'll mix the hops evenly between them.

20100605 - Racked to secondary carboys and split the dry hops 50-50%.  Got an almost perfect split in beer volume thanks to the 'Y' connector.
