Where MAD COW came from...
This recipe originated from an Imperial Stout I made for Big Brew 2008. Our clubs first real big activity together. Jim Stinson the brewmaster of Rockyard Brewery donated all the base grains, hot liquor and yeast to each member brewing. I took advantage of this and veered from the Big Brew recipes and made what I call Malt Ball Monster (MBM).
MBM was a 24lbs grist with 2lbs of brown sugar, 36 ounces of Whoppers Malt Ball Candy, and half a gallon of Bryer's Fat Free Double Churn Cappuccino Chocolate Chunk icecream added to the boil. The result is a lucious, deep, flavorful and effervecent RIS with a ABV of 12.5+%, Malt Ball Monster's stats...OG= 1.128 & FG= 1.018

MAD COW (Imperial Milk Stout) is a scaled down version of MBM. This one sits at 10.9% ABV with the same three extras as above added to the recipe. OG= 1.109 & FG= 1.027
The lactos really comes through on this one, but still with a huge body and alcohol warmth. The Choclate is huge and this version also carbonated with no issues unlike it's big brother.
